Stakeholder’s participation in the second cycle of the Sava River Basin management planning

end:  18.06.2015.start:  18.06.2015.
venue:  Zagreb
Stakeholder involvement in the process of implementation of the Framework Agreement on the Sava River Basin (FASRB) is a current issue in the ISRBC work. This process includes the 2nd cycle of the river basin management planning in accordance with the EU Water Framework Directive, given that all Sava River Basin countries (including the non-EU member states) committed to respecting this legal instrument of EU. Active involvement of stakeholders is not a legal requirement, but is encouraged. On 18th of June 2015 a workshop on Stakeholder’s participation in the second cycle of the Sava River Basin management planning was organized at the premises of the ISRBC. The participants were from different institutions from the Sava countries (ministries, water directorates, energy sector, NGOs) and the international organizations (WWF, EURONATURE, GWP and ISRBC). The scope of the one – day workshop was to discuss these issues with the experts involved in the second cycle of the Sava River Basin management planning process, in order to provide input for further planning of the stakeholder involvement in this process. The workshop also facilitated transfer of lessons learned from the river basin management planning in the Danube River basin.
