Inception Workshop on the establishment of a Flood Forecasting and Warning System in the Sava River Basin - Sava FFWS

On October 13-14, 2016 a workshop was organized to discuss the outcomes of the Inception Phase of the establishements of Flood Forecast and Warning System,as a component of WBIF project - link.
The inception phase of the project has been used to establish a proper organisational structure for the general purpose of development, coordinating and monitoring of the project implementation, as follows:
- Steering Board – to perform the overall monitoring of the project performance
- International Working Group – to harmonize the input of the Country Working Groups, follow the overall progress, and provide input to the Steering Board
- Country Working Groups – to provide all data and other related information required for development of the Sava FFWS, and provide input to the International Working Group.
During the inception phase, the beneficiaries also provided the information on, and in some cases even the data and models to be integrated in the common platform, including:
- available weather radar and satellite imagery
- various numerical weather models
- information on monitoring networks in the basin (rainfall, snow, water levels, discharges, etc.)
- outputs of the existing national forecasting systems
- different meteorological, hydrological and hydraulic models.
The first pre-release of Sava FFWS is planned for December 2016.
