On the July 20-21, 2020 the kick-off meeting for the project “Water Contingency Management in the Sava River Basin (WACOM)” was held via web.The project was approved for co-financing within the 3rd call of Interreg Danube Transnational Programme (DTP). The main objective is reduction of environmental risks related to accidental pollution and floods with potential transboundary impact by improved cooperation of key actors and jointly developed common operational system. The Lead Partner is University of Ljubljana, while the project partners are institutions for water management, navigation and civil protection. The project officially started on July 1st 2020 and will last 30 month (until December 2022).

On the kick-off meeting the project partners took note on project overview and discussed on workpackages regarding the status of joint preparedness and response, development of toolbox and the verification of the system on pilot sites and development of the strategy of implementation of coordinated actions in case of emergency situations in the Sava River Basin. The start of the project was also welcomed by Mr. Gustav Csomor, the Project Officer from the Managing Authority of DTP.
