Tourism Development
In accordance with the interest of the Parties to the Framework Agreement on the Sava River basin (FASRB) expressed on the 2nd Meeting of the Parties in 2009, the International Sava River Basin Commission (Sava Commission) coordinates development of sustainable river tourism within the Sava River Basin. The main results related to development of nautical, adventure based and eco-tourism as well as the culturally sensitive and socially conscious tourism comprise the 1st Sava Nautical and Tourist Guide and Transboundary Ecotourism Guidelines.
In order to promote recreational tourism, development of biking routs, living at pristine and undisturbed natural areas, traditional community life and natural and cultural heritage, the Sava Commission initiated further cooperation of the Parties in this field which resulted with the Joint Statement on regional cooperation on development of sustainable tourism in the Sava River Basin signed on June 15, 2017 at Bled (Slovenia). Joint Statement represents the framework for transboundary cooperation as a contribution to the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and fosters regional cooperation on sustainable development of the region.
