Meeting with representatives of the USA Government on future collaboration

On December 07 2006, the Secretary of the Sava Commission, Mr. Dejan Komatina held the Meeting with Mr. Samuel Kotis, First Secretary at the Embassy of USA in Budapest (Hungary), and Ms. Marlene Nice, Economic Officer at the Embassy of USA in Zagreb, at the premises of the Sava Commission in Zagreb.

The Meeting was organized for reasons of introduction of the Sava Commission to the guests, the so-far and planned activities of the Sava Commission, as well as the agreement on future forms of cooperation of the Sava Commission and the USA Government especially since Mr. Kotis recently replaced Ms. Karyn Posner-Mullen, with which the active collaboration was run as of the Interim Sava Commission.

The so far collaboration with the USAID, first of all, collaboration in field of navigation, which in a few months should result in concrete support of the USAID to preparation of the Feasibility Study on rehabilitation of navigation on the Sava River, was discussed on the meeting. In context of future collaboration, the Secretary of the Sava Commission stressed the large significance of possible cooperation with the USAID in filed of floods protection, for which the USAID already expressed its interest. It was agreed that communication between the USA Government and the Sava Commission should be more intensified, firstly, through the Embassy of USA in Zagreb.
