Presentation of the Sava Commission to Chinese rivers’ authorities

As a part of the »EU – China River Basin Management Programme«, a study trip to the Danube river basin was organized for a delegation of representatives of the Chinese Yellow river and Yangtze river authorities, with main aim to establish a platform for dialogue on integrated river basin and water resources management on the EU – China level, and to introduce the integrated RBM approach into the Yellow and Yangtze river basins practices.

Within this programme, the Chinese delegation visited a number of Danubian countries – EU member states, including the visit to the Republic of Slovenia on October 24-25, 2008. The visit was organized by the Slovenian Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning and hosted by the Slovenian Environmental Agency.

Upon invitation of the organizer to present the Sava Commission organization and work as a good example of the RBM practice, the Sava Commission Secretary, Dr. Dejan Komatina, took part in the programme and delivered the presentation on the Sava Commission, process of its establishment, principal objectives, activities and results. We've got a good feedback to the presentation from the guests. In informal talks, afterwards, a possibility of future cooperation, especially in terms of the information exchange between the commissions, was discussed.
