Sava Commission's Secretariat represented on the meeting with the Inland Navigation Europe

On October 20, 2008, at the premises of Centre for development of inland navigation in Zagreb, the meeting of the European association for promotion of inland navigation Inland Navigation Europe (INE) was held. This non-profit organization was founded in year 2002 with support of the European Commission, and its members are the most significant promotion and development organizations dealing with inland navigation from Western Europe. The Centre for development of inland navigation is a member of the association as of year 2007, as a first organization originating from this part of Europe.

INE members meet 2-3 times annually, always in another country, with aim to exchange experiences and plan the joint strategies for promotion of inland navigation. As this was the first meeting of association held in Zagreb, the association members expressed interest to get informed about work of the Sava Commission.

Representatives of the Sava Commission's Secretariat, Mr. Dragan Zeljko, Deputy Secretary for integrated river basin management and water planning, and Mr. Goran Šukalo, Advisor for navigation safety, delivered very interesting and detailed presentation with regard to main features of the Sava River Basin, history of establishment of the Sava Commission, main tasks, activities and organization of work of the commission. Following the presentation, the guests from the Sava Commission's Secretariat provided answers to numerous questions of the INE representatives to which the presentation was very useful since this was their first contact with the commission’s representatives. Both parties demonstrated willingness for continuation of cooperation.
