Visit of Mr. Erhard Busek to the Secretariat of the Sava Commission

Special coordinator of the Stability Pact for Southeastern Europe, Mr. Erhard Busek, visited the Secretariat of the Sava Commission in Zagreb on December 05, 2007.On the meeting with the Secretary of the Sava Commission, Mr. Dejan Komatina, which was also attended by Ms. Valerie Bode, the Executive Assistant at the Cabinet of the Special Coordinator, Mr. Busek was informed about the so-far activities and results of the Sava Commission, as well as about plans related to realization of the basic goals of the Framework Agreement on the Sava River Basin – FASRB (rehabilitation of navigation on the Sava River, development of the Sava River Basin Management Plan, preparation of development and action plans, projects, etc.).

Mr. Busek was positively impressed with the achieved results of the Sava Commission. Along with the information about process of transformation of the Stability Pact for SEE and the body, which would be a result of that process (“Regional Cooperation Council”), the Special Coordinator of the Stability Pact for SEE also gave his suggestions for involvement of the Sava Commission in ongoing international initiatives, such as “Infrastructure Steering Group of the Joint Office for South East Europe”, “Danube Cooperation Process” and “Vienna Economic Forum”.

During conversation, Mr. Busek also expressed the interest for status of the Republic of Montenegro under the FASRB and activities of the Sava Commission. After information stating that the Sava Commission already contacted the Government of the Republic of Montenegro to express the interest for its involvement in the work of the Sava Commission, Mr. Busek announced that he would also support this process.
