Ceremony on the occasion of commencement of the „Joint Danube Survey 2“

Ceremony on the occasion of commencement of the “Joint Danube Survey 2” (JDS-2) was held on August 14th 2007 in the wharf of the Regensburg (Germany).Under the JDS-2 three boats with teams of researchers from the Danube countries will go along the 2.375 km from Regensburg to the estuary into the Black Sea in order to collect the data on water quality along the water course of Danube River and its prominent tributaries, meaning the Sava River as well.

Around 60 participants of ICPDR, as the coordinator of this activity, representatives of state and local authorities of the host country, media representatives and organizations with observer status and other guests attended the ceremony. Upon invitation of the ICPDR, the secretary of the Sava Commission also attended this solemn gathering. After closure of the ceremony, the participation of the Sava Commission in the JDS-2 project has been agreed with the Secretary of the ICPDR. Involvement of the Sava Commission under the JDS-2 will include coordination of activities in realization of sampling on the Sava River and provision of support to teams of the Sava countries in preparation of the promotion material about the project.
